Ordeal::Model::Card - Class for representing cards
use Ordeal::Model::Card; my $card = Ordeal::Model::Card->new( content_type => 'image/png', group => 'whatever', id => 'AAA-bb-1235', name => 'three of clubs', data => sub { return $some_blob_of_png_data }, );
This class represents a card, with the goal of providing access to its representation (most probably an image file).
"id" should be a unique identifier for the card.
"content_type" and "data" do what you think: provide you the data associated to the card, e.g. the image file contents, and the associated content type describing what kind of data is. If you set "data" with a sub reference, it will be called when the contents of "data" is needed, so it can be useful to defer loading data until you really need it (e.g. from a file).
"group" can be used to group cards together. You should probably use an Ordeal::Model::Deck to create decks, not use this method. It might be useful if you want to partition your card space across different owners, but in any way it's just some data you can attach to a card.
"name" is a name you can associate to the card. Again, it's treated as opaque data, so you can abuse it.
my $bool = $obj->compare_ne($other_obj);
compare against $other_obj, returns true if the two are different. Relies on comparison of "id"s, but can be overloaded in subclasses.
$other_obj
my $ct = $card->content_type; $card->content_type('image/svg+xml');
accessor for the content-type to associate to "data".
my $data = $card->data; $card->data($data); $card->data(sub { load_data_from('/path/to/file.png') });
accessor for the data associated to the card. When set to a sub reference, it will be called when the accessor is used for reading back the data; this allows you to defer actual loading/generation of the data until you really need it. The sub reference will be passed the card object as the only parameter.
For example, you might want to load it from a file, using the "id" as the filename:
sub load_data_from_id ($card) { open my $fh, '<', $card->id or die "open(): $!"; binmode $fh, ':raw' or die "binmode(): $!"; local $/; defined(my $data = <$fh>) or die "readline(): $!"; close $fh or die "close(): $!"; return $data; } # ... then, somewhere else... $card->data(\&load_data_from_id);
my $group = $card->group; $card->group($group);
accessor for some c<group> metadata you might want to associate to the card. treated as opaque data.
my $id = $card->id; $card->id($id);
accessor for a unique identifer associated to the card.
my $name = $card->name; $card->name($name);
accessor for a name associated to the card.
The code leverages some experimental Perl features like signatures and postderef; for this reason, at least perl 5.20 will be needed.
