SYNOPSIS

In Perl:

 use Data::Unixish::trim;
 my $in  = ["x", "   a   ", "  b  \n   c  \n", undef, [" d "]];
 my $out = [];
 Data::Unixish::trim::trim(in=>$in, out=>$out);
 # $out = ["x", "a", "b\nc\n", undef, [" d "]]

In command line:

 % echo -e "x\n a " | dux trim
 x
 a

None are exported by default, but they are exportable.

trim(%args) -> [status, msg, result, meta]

Strip whitespace at the beginning and end of each line of text.

Arguments ('*' denotes required arguments):

  • in => any

  • out => any

  • strip_newline => bool (default: 0)

    Whether to strip newlines at the beginning and end of text.

Return value:

Returns an enveloped result (an array). First element (status) is an integer containing HTTP status code (200 means OK, 4xx caller error, 5xx function error). Second element (msg) is a string containing error message, or 'OK' if status is 200. Third element (result) is optional, the actual result. Fourth element (meta) is called result metadata and is optional, a hash that contains extra information.
