Apache::URI provides the following functions and/or methods:

construct_server

Construct a full hostname

  $hostname = $r->construct_server($hostname, $port, $p);
arg1: $r (Apache::RequestRec)

The current request

arg2: $hostname (string)

The hostname of the server

arg3: $port (string)

The port the server is running on

arg4: $p (APR::Pool)

The pool to allocate from

ret: $hostname (string)

The server's hostname

construct_url

build a fully qualified URL from the uri and information in the request rec

  $ret = $r->construct_url($uri, $p);
arg1: $r (Apache::RequestRec)

arg2: $uri (string)

The path to the requested file

arg3: $p (APR::Pool)

The pool to allocate the URL from

ret: $ret (string)

A fully qualified URL

parse_uri

parse_uri: break apart the uri
