TITLE

on-date - Display what happened on the given Shire date

SYNOPSIS

 on-date 3 25 # Rethe 25
 on-date 3 # Midyear's day
 on-date -help
 on-date -version

OPTIONS

-accented

If this Boolean option is asserted the accented forms of proper nouns (if any) will be used.

If you assert this option you will need to run this script with perl -C eg/on-date. It would be nice if the script could do

 binmode STDOUT, ':encoding(utf-8)'

if -accented was asserted, but unfortunately that was not invented until Perl 5.8, and this package is targeted for Perls back to 5.6.2.

-help

This option displays the documentation for this script. The script then exits.

-version

This option displays the version of this script. The script then exits.

DETAILS

This Perl script displays the given date in the Shire calendar, and what (if anything) happened in and around the War of the Ring on that date. The date is specified as two command line arguments. Normal dates are specified by month and day numbers. Holidays are specified by holiday number.
