Changes for version 0.13 - 2008-12-25

parse_version_safely now has a list context. It returns the sigil, identifier, value, filename, and line number for the VERSION variable.
Knowing the package name of the VERSION is important: it might be different than the filename or current package would suggest.

Extract a module version without running code

in lib/VERSION.pm

To install Module::Extract::VERSION, copy and paste the appropriate command in to your terminal.

cpanm Module::Extract::VERSION

perl -MCPAN -e shell
install Module::Extract::VERSION
