NAME

Bencher::Scenario::DataUndump - Benchmark Data::Undump against eval() for loading a Data::Dumper output

VERSION

This document describes version 0.002 of Bencher::Scenario::DataUndump (from Perl distribution Bencher-Scenario-DataUndump), released on 2019-09-07.

SYNOPSIS

To run benchmark with default option:

 % bencher -m DataUndump

To run module startup overhead benchmark:

 % bencher --module-startup -m DataUndump

For more options (dump scenario, list/include/exclude/add participants, list/include/exclude/add datasets, etc), see bencher or run bencher --help.

DESCRIPTION

Packaging a benchmark script as a Bencher scenario makes it convenient to include/exclude/add participants/datasets (either via CLI or Perl code), send the result to a central repository, among others . See Bencher and bencher (CLI) for more details.

BENCHMARKED MODULES

Version numbers shown below are the versions used when running the sample benchmark.

Data::Undump 0.15

BENCHMARK PARTICIPANTS

  • Data::Undump::undump (perl_code)

    Function call template:

     Data::Undump::undump(<dump>)
  • eval (perl_code)

    Code template:

     eval(<dump>)

BENCHMARK DATASETS

  • array100i

    Array of 100 integers

  • array1000i

    Array of 1000 integers

  • array10mixed

    A 10-element array containing a mix of various Perl data items

SAMPLE BENCHMARK RESULTS

Run on: perl: v5.26.1, CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) M-5Y71 CPU @ 1.20GHz (2 cores), OS: GNU/Linux LinuxMint version 18.3, OS kernel: Linux version 4.10.0-38-generic.
