NAME

Rex::Rancher::Distribution::RKE2 - RKE2: paths, services and installer of the default distribution

VERSION

version 0.003

SYNOPSIS

my $rke2 = Rex::Rancher::Distribution->new_for('rke2');
$rke2->service;              # rke2-server
$rke2->script_install_cmd;   # curl -sfL https://get.rke2.io | sh -

DESCRIPTION

The RKE2 side of Rex::Rancher::Distribution, the default distribution, verified live like K3s. Configuration in /etc/rancher/rke2, units rke2-server and rke2-agent.service, installer from https://get.rke2.io (agents with INSTALL_RKE2_TYPE=agent), release tarballs rke2.linux-ARCH.tar.gz. A running service is left running on a re-run unless it has to take something new: a changed config.yaml, registries.yaml, /etc/default file or containerd drop-in, or a new binary restart it (see "restart_reasons" in Rex::Rancher::Distribution) -- a new binary only as the version skew rules allow (see "start_verb" in Rex::Rancher::Distribution).

On a server the install script's exit status is ignored, because it prints GPG key import noise that ends non-zero on some hosts (Rocky 10); command -v rke2 after either install method decides instead. With cilium the server config gets cni: none and disable-kube-proxy: true. Both units set no PATH, so a host-installed NVIDIA runtime needs the PATH= line "ensure_nvidia_runtime_path" in Rex::Rancher::Distribution writes to /etc/default/rke2-server or /etc/default/rke2-agent.

The methods are those documented in Rex::Rancher::Distribution.
