Changes for version 0.908 - 2026-10-18

  • BREAKING: reset and reverse are no longer exported because they replaced Perl's builtins. Use reset_all or normal, and inverse or reverse_video.
  • BREAKING: removed the stray _black through _white functions, which emitted SGR 0-7 instead of colors
  • BREAKING: removed the bogus %s export tag
  • fix hide_cursor and show_cursor, which were swapped
  • counted cursor and scroll moves no longer move for a count of 0, and default to 1 instead of dying without an argument
  • define erase_in_display, erase_in_line, and bg_orange, which were exported but missing
  • :text and :bg now include the basic and bright colors
  • iterm_start_link now uses the link ID, and the ID in iterm_linked_text is optional
  • added several logical aliases, including:
  • add text_gray and bg_gray for text_bright_black and bg_bright_black
  • add erase_to_end_of_screen, erase_to_start_of_screen, erase_screen, erase_screen_and_scrollback, erase_to_end_of_line, erase_to_start_of_line, and erase_line
  • add normal_intensity (also no_bold, no_dark, no_faint, no_dim), no_italic, no_underline, no_blink, no_reverse (also no_inverse, no_reverse_video), reveal, text_default, and bg_default
  • add faint and dim as aliases for dark
  • add cursor_row, cursor_left, cursor_right, cursor_prev_line, cursor_position, cursor_home, cursor_line_start, cursor_hide, and cursor_show
  • add DEC cursor save and restore: cursor_save_state and cursor_restore_state (also decsc, decrc)
  • add cursor_save and cursor_restore for the SCO sequences
  • add strikethrough, no_strikethrough, rapid_blink, cursor_tab_forward, cursor_tab_back, cursor_position_request, and cursor_get_position
  • deprecate hide_cursor, show_cursor, save_cursor, and restore_cursor in favor of the cursor_ names
  • add a "Saving and restoring the cursor" doc section, and remove the docs for the nonexistent text_blink and text_concealed
  • add examples/subtasks.pl to show an advanced example
  • almost all of this work was done by Claude Opus 5.5
