require 5.8.8 explicitly as older perls do not seem to offer the required macros.
possibly made it compile on so-called C compilers by microsoft.

JSON serialising/deserialising, done correctly and fast

To install JSON::XS, copy and paste the appropriate command in to your terminal.

cpanm JSON::XS

perl -MCPAN -e shell
install JSON::XS
