Changes for version 0.42 - 2026-11-08

  • Bug Fixes
    • The running script is never read as its own configuration file. The script's name is one of the files looked for in each configuration directory, and a file that no other parser understood fell through to Config::Auto, which evals it as Perl, so the program ran again inside itself while it was still loading, with any errors silently discarded. The old guard only skipped the script's name in '' or '.', so CONFIG_DIR=$(pwd), an absolute path or a symlink got past it. Files are now compared by real path with the running script ($0, resolved when the module is loaded).
    • A file that starts with #! is never read as configuration, whatever it is called, since it is a program and the Perl parser would run it.
  • Enhancements
    • Cwd is now declared in PREREQ_PM.
    • New test t/self-load.t.
