Changes for version 0.40 - 2026-11-01

  • Fix restoring subscriptions on reconnect when a channel or pattern name contains a newline followed by "message:" or "pmessage:".
  • Fix out-of-bounds read when an INFO reply ends with CR without LF.
  • Fix use-after-free and double free when the server sends unexpected subscription replies, such as an unsubscribe before the subscription is confirmed.
  • [INCOMPATIBLE] Verify the server certificate by default when ssl is enabled. Pass SSL_verify_mode => 0 to restore the previous behavior (not recommended).
  • SSL_verify_mode no longer requires IO::Socket::SSL, accepts combined flags, and croaks on invalid values instead of silently disabling the verification.
